Bakersfield Youth Clubs Build Community Through Soccer, Multi-Sport Leagues and Mentorship
Local providers operate programs that connect children and families across the metro area.
How we reported this

Bakersfield youth soccer launched its largest season yet when about 26 teams for ages 3-14 began play on June 10, 2026. The start date marks the beginning of expanded summer activities that bring families together on local fields and at training sites.
Multi-Sport Leagues Connect Families
i9 Sports operates as the largest multi-sport provider in the Bakersfield metro area. It runs leagues in basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, baseball and multi-sport formats open to all ages and skill levels. These offerings give parents a single point of contact for year-round registration and allow siblings to participate in different activities at the same locations.
Training Facilities and Partnerships Support Skill Development
The American Kids Sports Center opened one of the city’s largest youth training facilities in May 2026. The center provides instruction in gymnastics, swimming, dance, ninja training and other sports while creating paid positions for local youth beginning at age 14.5. Skyhawks Sports runs skill-building programs for children from 18 months to 14 years and maintains a partnership with Kern County Soccer Park to deliver camps in golf, football, cheerleading, volleyball and soccer.
Mentorship Programs Extend Reach
The nonprofit Changes uses basketball to mentor formerly incarcerated youth. Its day-long tournament scheduled for October 11, 2026 aims to raise support and draw additional community members into ongoing activities. Together these organizations supply structured schedules, shared facilities and age-appropriate options that help families coordinate transportation and build regular social connections around youth sports.
Residents can contact i9 Sports, Skyhawks Sports, the American Kids Sports Center or Changes directly to learn current registration details and program availability.
