Bakersfield Hosts Marathon Series, Multiple Races Throughout 2026

Bakersfield will host a range of running and fitness races in the coming year. Events cover distances from short family options up to full marathon length. Organizers have set several dates that draw participants to city parks and museum grounds.

Key Dates for Spring and Fall Races

The Bakersfield Marathon returns on March 22 with accompanying half marathon, 10K, 6K and 1K races at the Kern County Museum. Packet pickup occurs the day prior at the Health and Wellness Expo. A separate Easter Fun Run 5K and 2 Mile Speed Walk is set for March 29 at 4200 Empire Dr. Earlier in the year the Coffee Run lands on February 21 at Park at River Walk and includes 10K, 5K and 1 mile distances to benefit the Wounded Heroes Fund.

The Hart Park After Hours Series occupies six consecutive Thursday nights beginning September 3 and ending September 24. The schedule alternates between 5K runs and mountain bike events at Hart Memorial Park. These recurring nights give local athletes repeated chances to train or compete under evening conditions.

Bakersfield maintains a steady calendar of races throughout the months. Activity peaks in October and February when the largest number of events appear on the schedule. Shorter options such as the 1K and family walks sit alongside longer endurance races at the same venues.
