Bakersfield College Clubs Build Community Through Inclusive Athletic Programs

Bakersfield College will offer free admission to all 2025 home football games at Memorial Stadium, including matches against Cerritos, East Los Angeles and Orange Coast.

CSUB Volleyball Secures First Conference Win

The CSUB volleyball team defeated UC Irvine for its first Big West victory of the season, moving the squad to a 1-1 conference record. This result adds to the department's focus on competitive play across multiple teams, including the men's and women's basketball squads scheduled to face Cal Poly at the Icardo Center and in San Luis Obispo respectively.

The men's basketball team enters those contests with an 8-13 overall record and a 2-7 Big West mark after a 90-81 loss to Cal Poly.

Reinvestment Targets Expanded Opportunities

Cal State Bakersfield is discontinuing its water polo and men's golf teams to redirect $170,000 over three years into underfunded women's athletics programs. The step supports wider participation in line with local adaptive and youth initiatives such as the League of Dreams program for athletes ages 5-22 with disabilities and the Jack Frost Football League for 6th-8th graders.

These adjustments occur alongside established local leagues, including Bakersfield A.C.E.S. 6v6 recreational soccer at Polo Community Park with $90 per-person seasonal registration and i9 Sports multi-sport options for youth ages 3 and older.
